Memo to Donald Trump, Rand Paul, and Mark Wahlberg: YOU ARE DUMB.

To the extent I have a new year’s resolution for 2018, it’s that I’m finding ways to cast a slightly wider net for news stories this year. I mean, it’s not like Trump’s continuing mental decline from a very low starting point isn’t going to dominate everything everywhere until he’s forced out of office or we all die, but other things are happening. Enough that I can make up a SPASTIC TOPIC MONKEY FRIDAY.

Hey, guess what, the President’s still a screaming racist! And so are a bunch of other people who are defending him! And so are his media enablers who, deliberately or otherwise, somehow manage to miss the very obvious point of Trump’s instantly infamous “shithole country” comments, reported yesterday and not denied by the White House.

Claiming that the issue is that Trump called Haiti and El Salvador “shitholes” is a mistake. Claiming that it’s OK because those countries really are shitholes is dumb, willfully ignorant, or both. What Trump said is that we don’t want people from shithole countries. Why wouldn’t we want people from shithole countries? The only possible reason is the belief that shithole countries produce shithole people. Because Trump doesn’t want the people. And since he doesn’t want the people from brown and black countries, and DOES want people from white countries like Norway, that makes him STILL FUCKING RACIST.

Because I didn’t have room for it on Wednesday, and it’ll be old news by next Wednesday, ACTUAL QUOTE TIME!

"It was sort of, I guess, a living hell for the first four or five weeks. Couldn't get out of bed without assistance, six broken ribs, damage to my lungs, two bouts of pneumonia. It was really a tough go of it. But each day I feel a little bit better. This last month I've been doing better." - Rand Paul, shitty libertarian.

If I had to sum up Rand Paul’s glibertarian political philosophy, it’s that if you can’t do something unassisted, like eat, or pay your rent, or pay your medical bills, you shouldn’t get to do it at all. Yet here he is, accepting “assistance” to get in and out of bed? Unless that assistance took the form of HIS OWN GODDAMNED JOHN GALT BRAND BOOTSTRAPS, I call shenanigans. Also, if this is how Rand Paul defines a “living hell”, he definitely needs to suffer more, and longer, just to get a goddamned sense of perspective.

.

And returning to the topic of shitty things that shitty people make shitty arguments about on the internet, let’s talk about Mark Wahlberg getting paid a million and a half fucking dollars for the Spacey-mandated reshoots of “All The Money In The World” while Michelle Williams, under the impression all the actors were doing the reshoots for nothing, got less than $1,000 in per diems.

In typical fashion, lots of people are missing the point, and that’s before the revelation that Wahlberg not only got paid, he demanded it and wouldn’t let the reshoots move forward without his money. It’s about systemic abuse. It’s about a wold where the man can get paid some multiple (in this case, 1,500) of what the woman makes, and the boss, who knows how much everyone’s getting paid, lies to everyone about it so that he can keep paying the women less. This is a just a super-extreme example of how it always works, everywhere. So fuck Mark Wahlberg and fuck Ridley Scott and fuck all of you “she needs a better agent” MRA-sympathizing fucktards on social media.
