Once More Unto The Breach

Memo to Peter Thiel, Mark Kirk, and Donald Trump: SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE, ASSHOLES.

The next time you see IDIOTS SAY THE DAMNDEST THINGS, Hillary Clinton will be the president-elect and we will all be pretending to be shocked by how close it was, because anything short of 98%-2% would be shocking. And as tempting as it is to once again give all three slots to Trump, his shock collar and the e-mail story and the general burnout with his awfulness is keeping his base assholery from the top of the churn. Plus, fuck Mark Kirk.

"What Donald Trump represents isn’t crazy, and it’s not going away.” - Paypal CEO Peter Thiel, making me research other ways to send money over the Internet.

Thiel is, of course, half right. What Trump represents isn't going away because it's never gone away. It's always been here. The one time it did go away, we decided to fight a war to get it back, a decision I'm occasionally tempted to regret before I remember the millions of people who'd have remained enslaved if we hadn't. Possibly to this day, given the way slavery is defended today.

Thiel is taking the line that many Republicans are taking right now - that while they say they don't agree with everything Trump says or does, that stupid establishment that let Peter Thiel get super-rich by skimming percentages of everyone's financial transactions in the name of convenience has to be taken down for the common good. NOT GOING AWAY!

I forgot your parents came all the way from Thailand to serve George Washington." - Mark Kirk, because fuck Mark Kirk.

No, seriously. Fuck Mark Kirk. You remember Mark Kirk? The guy who discovered that stroke victims weren't lazy slackers after he had a stroke and realized it was tough? The guy who disavowed Trump after Trump attacked an American public servant because some of his parents were foreign? That Mark Kirk?

That was his reaction to his opponent, Tammy Duckworth, saying truthfully that her family has fought for the United States all the way back to the Revolutionary War. Because sometimes people from one country marry people from another country and have kids, and it doesn't somehow pollute and invalidate the white part of their ancestry. Kirk apologized "sincerely" without mentioning why he was wrong, and Duckworth accepted because she has to be gracious, but I don't. Fuck Mark Kirk and I hope he loses.

"Were you paid $1,500 to be a thug? Were you paid? You can get him out." - Donald Trump, going out on a high note.

The "thug" in question was C.J. Cary, a Trump supporter, who was trying to get Trump's attention so that he could give Trump an important message - stop being so racist. The irony was lost on everybody involved. And yes, certainly waving a note and yelling during a Trump rally may make you look crazy, but there's different kinds of crazy. For example, thinking you can talk Trump into being less racist so you feel more comfortable supporting him.

I'm not sure what's more surprising. Trump thinking the whole "being paid to do it" aspect of his bullshit making it less racist to call black people "thugs", or that he didn't try to take credit for bringing another job to the African-American community. I will not miss him.
